Ningol Chakkouba celebrated

Mission Department, the cross-cultural organ of the Manipur Baptist Convention celebrated its 17th Ningol Chakkouba along with the rest of Manipur yesterday.
Clad in their finest traditional attire with gifts in their hands, about 900 ningols (women) along with their children attended the joyous occasion with fervour and joy, said a statement of Rev Alani Shongsir, mission secretary, Manipur Baptist Convention today.
Speaking on the occasion, Rev Dr W Konghar, general secretary of MBC encouraged all the ningols and their children to live 'Christ-like life' and become agent of transformation within their families and communities.
W Konghar also prayed for all the ningols.
Special gifts were presented by all the dignitaries to the ningols and their children.
The programme came to blessed closure with a grand Ningol Chakkouba feast, said the statement.
The Mission Department has been organising Ningol Chakkouba festival every year with a goal to revive and strengthen the bond of love and affection between the brothers and sisters, who are married to the people in the valleys, to ultimately promote emotional integration and unity in the State, conveyed the statement.
The celebration was attended by Minister PHE Losii Dikho and Pyarry L Zimik.
Mission Department thanked and expressed gratitude to all individuals, groups, Churches for their prayer, support and generous contributions.
Meanwhile, Tangkhul Naga Aze Longphang (TNAL), Hao Mee Research Guild Manipur and Tomching Chingshang organised "Tamgi Eche Echalsing Ningol Chakkouba" at Leikoiching, Senapati district yesterday.
Wungnaoshang Konghay, Headman Leikoiching village, MK Horlui, president Shanao Long Leikoiching, T Sumorjit, Principal Itham Meitei, AS Shingtara, spokesperson Hao Mee Research Guild, N Bimol Meitei, president PPCM and Ph Sakhi, president Apunba Manipur Kanba Lup attended the event.
Valley based woman CSOs leaders were invited and presented invaluable gifts during the celebration, said a statement of S Robin, chairman Hao Mee Research Guild (MHRG) today.
In Noney district, Samper brothers and families have celebrated Ningol Chakkouba with Samper Ningols (women of Samper sagei) at Langdangmei Chiru village.
29 Ningols married to different clans and villages were presented simple gifts at the 5th Ningol Chakkouba.
The brothers and sisters also held a prayer for prosperity and long life and recalled their days together during the celebration.
