Imphal, December 06 2013 :
The national leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are prepared to raise the controversial issue of Indo-Myanmar border fencing in Manipur in both Houses of the Parliament during the ongoing winter session.
According to sources from BJP Manipur Pradesh, the highest decision making body "Parliamentary Board" of the BJP convened a high-level meeting in New Delhi yesterday and resolved to take up Manipur's border issue with Myanmar in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha most likely in the next two days during the ongoing Parliamentary Session.
National President Rajnath Singh has conveyed the meeting's resolution to the State BJP and sought supplementary information and documents regarding the issue.
The BJP would focus mainly on the response given by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi to MLA L Ibomcha way back during the Question Hour of Manipur Legislative Assembly Session held on July 15, 2002 .
Chief Minister Ibobi had mentioned loss of boundary pillars No.101, 66, 74 and 79 in his reply to MLA Ibomcha.
Moreover, Ibobi had said that the State Government had written a letter to Ministry of Home Affairs regarding Indo-Myanmar joint boundary survey.
The BJP leaders would highlight all the issues pertaining to Indo-Myanmar border crisis in Manipur in the Parliament.
They would press for dismantling of the four-kilometre-long border fence which has divided the Yangoupokpi Wildlife Sanctuary in Chandel district, the source added.
