Ukhrul villagers urge

Imphal, May 25 2016:
Panic stricken people of two villages in
Ukhrul district have been taking refuge at safer place during night
times after cracks were found in the villages following downpour
in the last few days.
Villagers of Molnom, located along Mahadeva Junction
(NH-150) - Sanakeithel road and Songphel, located along the
Molnom-Sirarakhong road, found cracks in the villages in the
morning of Sunday while they went to attend Church service.
Kamthong Haokip, chief of Songphel village told media
persons today that the villagers were struck with fear after
discovering a crack of 100 metre length in the village.
Although villagers stay at their houses during day time,
they take shelter at safer places during night time or when
rainfall occurs.
There are about 84 households in the two
villages which are under Litan PS.

Khongsai visited the villages to take stock of the situation.
Khuppao Lunkim, chief of Molnom village urged the au-
thority concerned to look into the matter at the earliest.
