The 55th Emerald Jubilee Celebration Function of the Modern College, Imphal was observed today at the Multipurpose Hall of the college.
Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam said that the 5 5 years completion of the college, the emerald jubilee celebration, is an opportunity to retrospect and analyse the past for a better future.
The celebration was organized by the Organizing Committee "Emerald Jubilee" of Modern College Students' Union at the Multipurpose Hall of the college under the theme 'Reminiscing the past, Reflecting the Present and Reckoning the Future' .
Speaking to the students, the Minister expressed that in life, success comes with taking risks.
Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he said that 'a person who falls and gets up is stronger than a person who never falls' .
He said therefore one should not be discouraged by the problems and issues that come in life; rather it should be taken as a stepping stone towards success.
He emphasised that the students should have patience to become successful in life.
Communication skill is another area for students to train to be able to express their views and ideas clearly.
He advised the students to be considerate towards others and help the needy and the weak.
Youths need to educate and nurture themselves with moral values to become a good human who will help and serve the society, he said.
Principal of the college, members of Modern College Alumni Associations, Professors and students attended the function.
The Minister also unveiled the Commemorative Monolith of Modern College.
