Kangpokpi, September 22 2018:
Fuming over the order issued by Directorate of Health Services on September 17 wherein four doctors, who are on leave, were given posting at the office of CMO Pool Kangpokpi District, the Kuki Students' Organization, Sadar Hills (KSO-SH) has served an ultimatum to the authority concerned with several demands to be fulfilled by September 27.In a press conference held at the Administrative Office of the student body in the afternoon at Kangpokpi DHQs, President KSO Sadar Hills, Thangminlen Kipgen said that earlier KSO submitted a representation through DC Kangpokpi for the proper functioning of the office of CMO Kangpokpi and District Hospital Kangpokpi.
Consequently, Directorate of Health Services issued an order on September 17 wherein four out of five sanctioned medical officers were given posting at the office of CMO Pool Kangpokpi.
However, KSO came to know that the four Medical Officers were on leave to pursue their PG course, he added.
Questioning the intention of the State Government for posting medical officers who are on leave at the office of CMO Kangpokpi and District Hospital Kangpokpi, Thangminlen Kipgen said that the people of Kangpokpi will be deprived of effective medical services since the Medical Officers will not be able to render their services despite of being posted in the CMO Pool.
He demanded that Government should revoke the order immediately and rather provide doctors who can physically present at CMO Pool Kangpokpi and District Hospital Kangpokpi to deliver their services.
Besides, Thangminlen Kipgen also demanded six specialists for Anaesthesiology, Surgery, Medicine, Obs & Gyne, Paediatrics and Pathology for District Hospital Kangpokpi as per the sanctioned strength and same numbers of specialists at CHC Saikul.
"Our demands should be fulfilled by September 27", asserted President KSO Sadar Hills while cautioning that if their demands are not taken seriously, they will be compelled to take up various forms of agitation for the proper functioning of the District Hospital and CMO Pool.
Meanwhile, CMO office Kangpokpi also appealed the State Government to post sincere and dedicated doctors who can stay and work together with the staff and colleagues so that the newly created District can have equal development just like other districts of the State.
Dr Phuthou Henkhoneng Mate, District Malaria Officer who spoke on behalf of CMO Kangpokpi also highlighted various grievances the Health Sector of Kangpokpi District has been facing due to inadequate manpower and infrastructures.
