Heritage park soon at Keibul Lamjao: Biren

Chief Minister N Biren said that a Heritage Park having traditional houses of all the 33 recognised tribes of the State would be developed at an estimated cost ofRs 39 crore at Keibul Lamjao soon.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the annual get together and freshers' day, 2018 of Mao Youth and Students' Organisation (MYSO), Imphal at the auditorium of Tribal Research Institute.

The Chief Minister said that the Union Tourism Ministry had approved the Heritage Park project, and the State Government had set a target to complete the project before next year's Manipur Sangai Festival.
He said that Cherry Blossom Festival, Mao would be held as part of Manipur Sangai Festival from this year onwards.
Stating that Mao is one of the most advanced communities of the State, he said that Mao people's contribution in terms of economic and social development in the State is immense.
The Chief Minister said that he is happy to learn that the number of Mao students coming to Imphal for education and higher studies is increasing now.
Regarding Mao people's desire to have an exclusive market for them in Imphal, the Chief Minister said that he would definitely keep his promise made to Mao womenfolk.
However, identification of location of the market-shed may take some more time, he added.
The Chief Minister also assured Mao Community Building being constructed at Deulahland would be completed at the earliest in consultation with Ministers L Dikho and N Kayisii.
Stating that women market shed being constructed at Senapati headquarters would be inaugurated next month, N Biren Singh said that the State had also decided to set up HIT at Mayangkhang.
Public Health Engineering Minister L Dikho and Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister N Kayisii were the functional president and guest of honour respectively.
Different cultural troupes presented colourful traditional dances and songs at the function.
