MMTA observes Earth Day

Association has observed
"Earth Day" under the theme
"End Plastic Pollution" at the
complex of the Manipur
Mountaineering Institute at
Lamdan, Churachandpur
today.

the observation as presidium
members.
Speaking as a resource
person, RK Sunita Devi
pointed out the harmful effect
of plastics on the environ-
ment.
Pointing out the negative
impact plastic has to the envi-
ronment, Clay Khongsai
called for public conscious-
ness on handling and using
plastic materials/products.
Setting examples, MMTA
president Bijoy
Kakchingtabam announced
that the use of plastic is
banned in the institute.
"Who-
ever brings in plastic bottles/
water bottles inside the cam-
pus will have to pay a deposit
fee of Rs 100. The amount
will be returned when the
bottle/plastic is taken out of
the campus.
If the bottle is
not taken out of the campus
then the amount will stay with
the authority," he said.
Presidium members at the
event presented certificates
and badges to 21 successful
students of the institute who
have cleared 81st Adventure
Course 2018.
As a part of the observa-
tion, trees were planted
around the campus.
