A team of police personnel of Nongpok Sekmai Police Station and two locals led by Inspector A Nabakanta Sharma and Sub-Inspector Kiran rescued one female barking deer, which was chased by few dogs, from Hanuching area of Nongpok Sekmai while patrolling this morning.
After receiving an information about the incident, volunteers of People For Animal (PFA), Manipur rushed to the spot and gave first aid to the deer, said a statement of PFA.
Saying that there was a report of hunting/poaching wild animals in the surrounding areas few days back and few scars were spotted on the deer body, the statement maintained that the scars might have been caused due to attempt by the hunters/poachers to catch it.
Later, the deer was released in safe environment in the presence of Forest officials, PFA added.
