Imphal, April 08 2009: The construction of a centre of worship and religious studies for the followers of Sanamahi faith is progressing with the contributions in kind and coin from many donors and contributors at the Sanamahi Culture University at Nongmaiching hills, the Director of the Foundation for University of Sanamahi Culture, Maibam Dorel told reporters today.

Acknowledging the contributions of the people towards the construction of a place of worship which began in 2006, the Director of the Foundation for University of Sanamahi Culture, Maibam Dorel also appealed to the people to extend their unflinching support towards the project of developing a university.

Various kinds of books relating to the teachings of different religions and faiths will be stored and their teachings will be imparted, Maibam Dorel said.

The contributions of donors and the details of expenditure incurred in the construction of the Lainingkon will also be updated for transparency and a website of the centre will soon be launched, Dorel maintained.

The Chief Secretary of the Foundation for University of Sanamahi Culture , Loitongbam Umakanta said that the University will be a world class multi-religious institute.

He said that around Rs 23,70,000 has been spent so far on the construction of the University and around Rs 25 lakh, including materials, had been received from contributors and donors.

He further said that the estimated total cost of the construction of the University will be somewhere around Rs 7 crore.

A group of media persons was also shown the progress of the construction of the centre of worship today.

Many volunteers and members of the Foundation and architect of the complex, L Shanti, senior Architect also accompanied the media persons.
