TPR rises, 4 deaths, 387 new cases reported

Imphal, August 29 2021:
After two days of single digit daily positivity rate, Sunday witnessed a spike in the positivity rate as government bulletins confirmed four fatalities and 387 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 3469 samples tested, thus registering a positivity rate of 11.16 per cent against Saturday's 9.46 per cent.
The active caseload has come down to 3388 out of which 1257 (37.10 per cent) are in home isolation, 853 (25.18 per cent) in CHICs, 733 (21.64 per pent) in CCCs and 545 (16.09 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 124 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 203 are on oxygen support and 54 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on the number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS, Hand Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre though these facilities have 152,34 and 13 patients respectively.
At the same time, 20 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Sunday evening, 462 beds including 80 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.
There is no updated information on bed vacancy for other facilities but as of Saturday evening 2819 beds were available in different CCCs, and 213 beds (20 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 83,928 positive cases and 1405 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month saw an addition of 14,829 new cases and 223 fatalities out of which 2386 new cases and 28 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 387 new positive cases included 384 people (185 male & 199 female) from among the general population and 3 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
Their samples were tested at RIMS (19), JNIMS (47), District Hospitals (242) and other testing centres (79).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (52), Imphal West (159), Thoubal (35), Bishnupur (14), Kakching (13), Ukhrul (10), Churachandpur (38), Chandel (8), Senapati (5), Tamenglong (16), Tengnoupal (1), Noney (2), Pherzawl (30) and Kangpokpi (1) .
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 4 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information have been disclosed.
The district wise distributions are Imphal West (1) and Imphal East (3).The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1779.None of the four victims had received Covid vaccines and one did not have any co-morbid conditions.
In the last 24 hours, 419 patients were discharged from home isolation (168), RIMS (5), JNIMS (14), CCCs (158) and CHICs (74) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,13,328 (general population - 1,09,221 and CAPF personnel - 4,107).Number of recovered cases is 1,08,161 (general population - 1,04,075 and CAPF personnel - 4,086) and number of active cases is 3,388 (general population - 3,372 and CAPF personnel - 16) .
The recovery rate is 95.44 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1340 D-type and 359 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
With vaccination rate still low, only 7161 vaccine doses were administered on Saturday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,84,851 .
Out of them, only 3,33,985 individuals are fully vaccinated while there are 4,03,677 individuals eligible to get the second dose.
Meanwhile, 30 new positive cases were detected out of 215 samples tested in Kakching district on Sunday.
All of them new cases are from Elangkhanbokpi Mayai Leikai where samples of 180 individuals were tested, according to DSO Kakching.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (38,343), Imphal East (25,231), Thoubal (9115), Churachandpur (9557), Kangpokpi (2611), Tamenglong (3109), Bishnupur (8664), Senapati (2062), Ukhrul (2243), Kakching (6137), Chandel (2153), Noney (989), Tengnoupal (1013), Jiribam (995), Kamjong (709) and Pherzawl (397).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (590), Imphal East (419), Thoubal (163), Churachandpur (153), Kangpokpi (56), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (182), Senapati (7), Ukhrul (26), Kakching (109), Chandel (33), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 36,522 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,453 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 3,88,204 tests per million population against the national average of 3,71,606 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.57 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 3469 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 11.16 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity rose to 9.41 per cent.
