Litter bins installed

As part of 'Swachh Survekshan 2020' and to make Bishnupur Municipal Council a neat and clean Council, 15 pair of litter bin, one to collect solid dry waste and the other to collect wet waste, were installed from the forest gate of the Council to Thongjaorok bridge followed by a simple function, organized by Bishnupur Municipal Council, demonstrating the segragation of the solid waste disposal to two different litter bins as dry waste and wet waste respectively on June 26 .
Regarding the function, Director, MAHUD, GoM, Th Harikumar Singh said that the work for segragation of solid waste was initiated at Bishnupur Municipal Council in line with the State Govt's endeavor to make Manipur a hygienic and clean place on earth adding that such drive will be conducted in different Nagar Panchayats of each Council and at Imphal Muncipal Council under 'Solid Waste Management Rules 2016' and 'Plastic Waste Management Rules 2016' .
Stating that the segragated solid waste can be processed to make it organic manure while the plastics items can be recycled for further reuse which is like converting the solid waste into wealth, the Director sought full cooperation from the public to segragate the solid waste while disposing in the litter bin to make the endeavor of various Municipal Councils for a clean and tidy Manipur, a grand success.
Chairperson, Bishnupur Municipal Council, L Maniyaima Singh also urged the residents of Ward No 12, Bishnupur Municipal Council to segragate the solid waste as dry and wet waste while disposing in the litter bin to make it easy for the staff of the Council to collect the waste.
Today's function was attended by Director, MAHUD Th Harikumar Singh; Deputy Secy, MUDA M Nando Singh; Chairperson, BMC L Maniyaima Singh; Executive Officer, BMC Kh Kanta Singh, vice-Chairperson, Councillors, skill and non-skill labourers.
