Three young girls who ran away from home with plans to go to Moreh side, were rescued by Pallel police with the help of two van drivers.
The three girls, two aged 13 and one 11 year old, hail from Luwangshangbam, Imphal East and it is reported that they left home at around 4 am today on the pretext for going out for a morning walk.
After they failed to return home, concerned family members filed missing reports at Heingang PS, apart from spreading the news and details of the girls on social media sites.
They were rescued from Pallel bazaar.
According to the three girls, they wanted to go to Moreh and as such, they put their clothes inside their school bags and got out of their homes acting as if they were going for a morning walk.
They went on foot from Luwangshangbam to Khabam then boarded an autorickshaw till Imphal Thoubal parking before going to Thoubal on a Winger.
After reaching Thoubal, they travelled to Wangjing and then to Pallel bazaar on autorickshaw.
They also explained that two of them carried Rs 200 each while one brought Rs 100 with her.
They were resting at a verandah of a hotel at Pallel bazaar when two van drivers spotted them.
Suspecting the girls to be the ones whose details were being circulated on social media sites, the van driver approached them to verify their suspicions.
After enquiring the little girls, the van driver used the phone number in one of the girl's Aadhaar card and called their concerned parents.
The parents appealed to van drivers to wait for them as they would come for the girls but as the driver had passengers on their vehicles, they instead gave necessary information to police, who finally brought the girls safely to Pallel PS at around 2.20 pm.
Later, the parents along with Heingang police arrived at the place.
However, as officials of Child Welfare Committee Thoubal demanded for an enquiry to ascertain the reason why the girls left their homes, the party, including the girls, were brought before CWC Thoubal Chairperson.
After the girls were produced before CWC Thoubal Chairperson Kh Jitendra, they were handed over to their respective families.
On the other hand, the little girls clarified that they did not leave home on anyone else' direction but their own whims.
According to a source, the girls might have planned to go towards Moreh/Myanmar due to the fascination with Korea, China and other South Est Asian countries.
In the past, there were instances when the girls had asked about ways to travel to China, Korea, Thailand etc, the source added.
