Even kids prefer specialist doctors: Nandakumar

Imphal, August 26 2012: Sky Heart Hospital & Research Center, Imphal has inaugurated a super-specialist equipment called Heart pacemaker implant operation and dialysis service on Sunday.

Speaking at the inaugural function of the equipment, MLA of Uripok A/C L Nandakumar Singh observed that earlier the concept of super specialty was not conscious among the people.

However, with the change of time, even small kids are conscious about the importance of it and they prefer a specialist doctor for their treatment.

Director General of Police Y Joykumar, who was also present at the occasion, said that education and medical treatment are two most important problems draining the wealth of Manipur outside the state..

However, with availability of the equipments needed by specialist, the number of people going outside the state for medical treatment decreased to around 50%.Dr Shyamkishore Lairikyengbam, Chairmen of Heart Hospital, informed that he decided to import the advanced heart Pacemaker Implant Operation equipment after an incident where an old woman died of heart attack.

The life of the woman could have been saved if the hospital had the service of Heart pacemaker implant operation and dialysis at that time.

Minister of PHED, Labour and Empowerment I Hemochandra Singh noted that availability of such super-specialist facilities in some of the private hospitals is a valuable asset for the people of Manipur.
