The Estimates Committee of the Manipur Legislative Assembly today inspected work progress of the Solid Waste Management Project being taken up by the State Government at Lamdeng Khunou.
A team led by estimate committee chairman MLA Dr Ng Bijoy today inspected the project which is being developed at a cost of Rs 4.17 crores by Ram Kay Enviro Engineering Limited as work agency and Deccan Consulting Engineering Private Limited as consultant.
So far, the project has been completed up to 80 per cent.
The inspection team found that the project was making good progress.
To a query raised by the chairman, the work agency assured that the project can be completed by November this year.
Waste material, garbage and effluents discharged from Imphal city would be treated at the treatment plant of the project to manufacture manure using chemicals, said Dr Ng Bijoy.
However, it demands proper consultation with experts if chemicals used in the treatment plant would affect human health and environment, he said.
The team also included MLAs RK Imo, Yamthang Haokip, K Shyam, Fazur Rahim and other officials.
They also visited the spot along Waisel Maril where culverts would be installed under PDA and also the earth filling work along the banks of Waisel Maril at Kwakei-thel Haorakchambi.
The team also met members of Lilong Nagar Panchayat and discussed about the mode and areas of investment which would pay maximum dividend to the people.
From the side of Lilong Nagar Panchayat, a memorandum was submitted to the estimate committee for construction of a market complex within the Nagar Panchayat.
