Tamenglong rally decries crime against women

Tamenglong, May 22 2012:
We don't want any money; we don't want termination or suspension.
However, we want and demand the culprit to be hanged.
Women against the women are too much in Manipur.
Women are weaker in the societies, victims remained in silent.
This was the common refrain that ran through the addresses of many speakers including Martha, Co-convener JAC against the inhuman gang rape of ****** ; Sushilo, Convener JAC against the brutal killing of Keisham Premila Devi and Aniliu Gangmei, President of Zeliangrong Women Union before a mass rally decrying crime against women was flagged off at Tamenglong today.
The mass rally cum public meeting on crime against women was held at Mini Stadium Tamenglong HQs today.
Holding banners and placards inscribed with wordings like 'Stop Violence against women', 'Hang the culprit and we want speedy justice' and shouting slogans demanding to hang the culprits and justice, the rallyists walked down Mini Stadium Tamenglong to Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong and submit a memorandum there.

All shops and markets remained shut down during the mass rally.
As the rallyists were approaching the gate of Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong police stopped them from going ahead and later 20 agitators were allowed to enter and submit the memorandum.
At the request of the protestors, Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong C Athur W, IAS, also came down to speak to the rallyists.
Athur assured that he would be forwarding the memorandum to all concerned.
"I am not the right person to take up the matter regarding the demands highlighted in the memorandum, as the matter is that judiciary.
Nonetheless, I would definitely support and do whatever I can do", C Arthur said.
The demands highlighted in the memorandum included intervention in the process being made for the release of the culprits on bail and instruct line department for expediting the process for the punishment of those involved in the crimes by terminating from their services for their inhuman acts at the earliest.
The memo was signed by Kakomlunglu Kamei, Convener JAC against the inhuman gang rape of ***** and Y.Sushillo, Convener JAC against the brutal killing of Keisham Premila Devi.
It may be also mentioned here that as many as 70 women folks from across the state came to attend the mass rally cum public meeting on Crime Against women at Tamenglong HQs today.
