Imphal, May 22 2012:
Cracking the whip against fuel adulteration that has assumed alarming proportions, a team of officials from the Indian Oil Corporation and Consumers Affairs, Food and Public Distribution today inspected a number of fuel outlets in Imphal and have closed down the Krishna Premi Oil City at Moirangkhom indefinitely.
The officials included the Deputy Manager of IOC, M Gaithouchung, Assistant Manager of IOC T Dharamvir and Director of CAFPD M Yaiskul.
Armed with density petroleum kit and other devices, the team inspected a number of oil pumps located at Imphal today.
Other than the said sealed outlet, the pumps inspected today included Tuks and Bon located at Hatta, Kusum oil pump located at Nongmeibung and Imo Filling Station located at Yumnam Leikai, Singjamei.
On checking the fuel sample at Krishna Oil City, with the desnity petroleum kit, the team found out that the density as well as the corresponding temperature of the fuel sample did not adhere to the standard set by the IOC.
The fuel samples checked included petrol and Xtra Premium.

On detecting the non-conformity of the samples to the laid down standard valuation, the official team plugged the filling pipes of the oil pump with a device and sealed the outlet indefinitely.
Norms pertaining to the density as well as the temperature were found at great variance.
The diesel stored at the said oil pump was however found to adhere to the nominal standard laid down by the Government and hence was not sealed.
The officials refused to divulge when the said oil pump would be allowed to open and resume service.
The official team also inspected the fuel samples at Kusum oil pump at Nongmeibung and found nothing amiss.
The officials however asked the pump management to instal electronic reading system.
The team also visited Tuks and Bon oil pump at Hatta and inspected the fuel sample there.
No anomalies were found in the density of the fuel samples.
Imo filling station, located at Yumnam Leikai, Singjamei also passed the test conducted by the team.
