Missing woman found dead, house of accused torched

Imphal, September 21 2014:
A woman vendor of Hiyangthang Market who went missing ever since she returned from the market on September 19 was found dead in Nambul River near Irom Meijrao Mamang Leikai Thongkhong under Wangoi Police Station in Imphal West today around 8.30 am.
The deceased has been identified as Sera Khatun (55) w/o (L) Md Abdul of Hiyangthang Palak village, Imphal West.
She is survived by three daughters and a son.
Meanwhile, on hearing the news of the recovery of the dead body of Sera Khatun unexpectedly, irate locals of Hiyangthang Palak torched the residential house of Md Abdul Kadir (30) alias Amuthi s/o Md Abosana at Chandrani, Hiyangthang Palak.
The locals also blocked Mayai Lambi Hiyangthang Thong-Hiyangthang Palak road .

It is said that Md Abdul Kadir was accompanying Sera Khatun when she was returning from Hiyangthang Market on September 19 around 7 pm.
He had already served in jail in connection with a case related with insurgency.
Both the hands and legs of the dead body were tied up with rope at the time it was found.
Police have deposited the dead body at RIMS morgue for post mortem.
It is believed that Sera Khatun was raped before abandoning in Nambul River.
Meanwhile, the Diamond Youth Welfare Association (DYWA),Sangaiyumpham and Social Welfare Association Sangaiyumpham (SWAS) have demanded stringent punishment for those involved in the murder.
It also warned the government of severe agitations, if it fails to arrest and punish the culprits.
