Do not elect candidates with selfish motives: Biren
Source: Chronicle News Service

Kakching, December 05 2021: Chief minister N Biren has urged the people of the state not to elect candidates with selfish motives who would stay away from the public once elected as MLAs are meant to serve the public but not to remain aloof from the public.

The CM attended political conferences of BJP respectively organised by BJP Wangoi and Kakching Mandal held in Wabagai and Kakching assembly constituencies on Sunday.

While attending the programmes, the CM said that the public need to take the election seriously in order to change the way the society had been shaping in the last 75 years.

The public should think which party and which candidate they should choose to bring development and prosperity in the society, he said.

Urging the public to compare the works done by past and present governments, he said that the public used to live an insecure life during the Congress rule when elderly women used to stay overnight in Meira sheds.

Today, these elder women no longer have to spent sleepless nights.

At the same time relation between public and police has improved significantly.

The era of bandh and blockades has also gone, the prime duty of a government is to protect the public, their properties and to take up welfare initiatives.

The BJP government is doing the right duty of a government by introducing various schemes for the public, he said while listing schemes introduced by his government as well as the Central government for the poor people.

He also said that the government along with the support of the public has been able to save lives of several thousands of lives from Covid-19 even though around 2000 have lost their lives.

Oxygen plants have been installed all the districts, ICU beds augmented and number of doctors and nurses have also been increased.

The government is carrying out house to house free diagnostic services under Chief Minister's Health for All scheme, Biren elaborated.

The CM also mentioned about extension of ILP system in the state and renaming Mount Harriet in Andaman and Nicobar into Mount Manipur, and stated that there is no reason not to support BJP in the 2022 state assembly election.

He also said that BJP is a secular party for the poor, downtrodden and backward classes of the society while urging for public support to bring about a lone BJP government in the state.

Works minister Thongam Biswajit said that the party puts its focus on the most backward classes of the society with the objective to bring equal and inclusive development.

The biggest achievement of the Biren government is to bring closer the hill and valley dwellers, and to usher in peace and tranquillity in the state.

Education minister S Rajen, agriculture minister O Lukhoi, Rajya Sabha MP and titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba, Hiyanglam MLA Dr Radheshyam Yumnam, Wangjing Tentha MLA Paonam Brojen, BJP general secretary (organisation) Abhay Kumar Giri, BJP Manipur Pradesh vice-president and intending candidate of Wangoi AC Dr Usham Deben, BJP Kakching District president Usham Ibomcha, Wabagai Mandal president Maibam Nabachandra, Kakching MLA M Rameshwar, Kakching Mandal president S Shyamjai, and social worker M Nungshi attended the two events held at Wabagai Awang Leikai Youth Development Association playground and Yumbi Macha High School Kakching campus.
