Imphal in need of satellite towns to decongest & improve living standards: IK Muivah

A brochure of Marjing Sana Sang-gai Township, Marjing Construction Pvt Ltd was released at Classic Hotel today.
IGP (Adm) Manipur IK Muivah and Chairperson of Manipur Women Commission Meinam Binota graced the function as the chief guest and the president respectively.
Pioneer Apunba Fitness Centre Yumnam Hemlet, spokesperson LJP Ningombam Ibohal Meitei and Assistant Commissioner, Imphal West Pooja Elangbam as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, IK Muivah said that planned township is a new idea in Manipur but States like Chandigarh, Bangalore have already adopted planned townships.
He continued that a planned township offers much higher level of convenience and amenities such as wider roads in grid patterns, underground drainage, proper footpath, parks, conference/multi-purpose buildings, aesthetic planting of trees in public places, shopping areas with ample parking, etc.

He further stated that, the idea of planned township is new to the people of the State as they have been residing by categorising as Leikais or villages.
IK Muivah observed that Imphal is in high need of satellite towns to decongest and improve the living standards in the city.
He also stated that vertical high rise buildings, consisting of flats are very common in Korea and Japan and other Indian cities and added that Imphal also needs to have vertical high rise flats to decongest the area and make way for wider roads, parks, shopping areas and proper drainage system.
This will require free and intense participation of private enterprises and investors as they will develop the infrastructure in which they will get their returns by having a share in either part of the land or constructed properties, maintained the officer.
Muivah lauded the new ambitious project by Marjing Construction Ltd of launching an eco-friendly modern township to provide new developments in the State and to offer better living facilities and lifestyle.
This will also boost the image of Imphal city and the State of Manipur, he remarked.
Meanwhile, Chairperson, Manipur Women Commission, Meinam Binota lauded Marjing Constructions Pvt Ltd for initiating the project while stating that it has once again proved that the youth has not lost the work culture, which was once adopted 30 years back.
Talking about the said project, Marjing Construction Pvt Ltd MD, Khundrakpam Leishemba stated that Marjing conceptualized the development of township and urbanisation for the first time in Manipur.
He said that it has introduced the real estate facilities providing residential buildings, villas at Nongpok Sanjenbam, with the upcoming project of Adventure park at Koutruk and resorts at Thoubal Leishangthem.
In this new project, 1 BHK, 2 BHK and 3 BHK are available with external amenities of hospitals, school, garden and cable car with bus services among others.
Marjing conceptualised the idea of 'eco-friendly' in every prospect of the project, Leishemba maintained.
