Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West released one individual on a PR bond of Rs 75,000 while remanding four other accused, including NIPCO president Oinam Premjit to further 7 days in police custody till November 12, in connection with the Nagamapal bomb attack of October 20 which killed one CRPF personnel and injured another.
All five accused, Oinam Premjit, Oinam Pinky, Sahabuddin Chesaba, Khaidem Sana and Yumkhaibam Milan, were produced before the Court along with a prayer for further remand in police custody.
On the other hand, the defense counsel of Oinam Pinky, filed a remand objection along with a prayer for releasing her on bail.
During the hearing, the IO, through the APP, submitted that during interrogation, one of the accused, Sahabuddin Chesaba, who is also the secretary (organization) of NIPCO, admitted that on October 22, two days after the incident, he collected a sum of Rs 17,000 from Oinam Premjit, president of NIPCO and delivered the money to Khaidem Sana at Shamu Makhong as reward or charge for hurling the hand grenade.
He also admitted that he, along with Premjit, had fired four rounds of bullets at the gate of one AK Dorendrajit of Nganapithong, the president of Sepak Takraw Association.
The IO also submitted that two accomplices are still at large and efforts are on to arrest them.
On the other hand, Oinam Premjit had admitted that as per the instruction of one self styled Major Umakanta, he contacted another associate and successfully committed the crime which killed a CRPF personnel and injured another.
He also admitted that out of three pistols seized by police, two were handed to him by a person (who is still at large) at his home in the month of September while the other pistol was collected from Nambol area.
The IO stated that Premjit further revealed that he collected a sum of Rs 17,000 from some unknown persons on September 20, from near NIPCO office, as per directions of Umakanta and handed over the money to Sana.
After hearing both parties and expressing satisfaction with the prayer of the IO, the Court remanded Oinam Premjit, Sahabuddin Chesaba, Khaidem Sana and Yumkhaibam Milan to seven more days in police custody till November 12.On the other hand, the Court also passed an order releasing Oinam Pinky w/o O Premjit, on a PR bond of Rs 75,000 with a surety like amount apart from directing her not to leave Manipur without the permission of the Court.
