Strongly condemning the killing of innocent people in the July 23 fake encounter incident in Imphal, Dr.Ramchandra Dom, MP, CPI (M), West Bengal said that such cold-blooded killing in the name of counter insurgency operation is shameful, thoughtless and shocking.
Talking to media persons at the house of late Ch.
Sanjit at Khuria (a victim of July 23 killing), Imphal, the MP from West Bengal said that the chief minister cannot remain silent in such a situation and should step down from his post on moral ground.
Congratulating the joint action committee (JAC) against the brutal killing of Ch Sanjit for their relentless fight for justice, he expressed extreme shock at the killing of innocent people by the state police in broad day-light in the crowded market of Imphal and added that there is no room for such atrocious acts in a democratic country like India.
He assured the JAC that he would put up the July 23 incident in the Parliament, and also demanded immediate suspension and termination of the police commandos involved in the killing.
Dr.Ramchandra also visited the house of late Rabina at Lamsang, Imphal where the JAC of Lamsang expressed their desire for imposition of President's Rule in the state as they no longer feel secure under the governance of chief minister O.Ibobi Singh.
While he was at Lamsang, Dr.Dom said that AFSPA 1958 is not the only option to fight insurgency and security forces should not take advantage of the Act to kill innocent people.
He demanded appropriate compensation for the victims' families and assured that CPI(M) is with them in their fight for justice.
