Imphal, February 26 2015:
A major controversy is brewing up after the detection of gross anomalies while setting the questions for the written test for selection of higher secondary school lecturers which was conducted recently by the Manipur Public Service Commission.
According to information, the Series A Question booklet for Geology subject at the written test held on February 22 last contained 200 questions, out of which 50 were for general studies and 150 for Geology.
However, it has turned out that 40 of the 150 questions for Geology were directly lifted from the Physical Geology exam paper of 2010 prepared by the Department of Geology and Geophysics, University of Wyoming, USA.
The question paper is reportedly available in the website of the American university.
Further, it was discovered that another 20 questions were copied from the Test Booklet Series A of Geography paper of a selection examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission in 2010 .
Furnishing the information before mediapersons on Thursday, the president of DESAM, Moirangthem Angamba, further alleged that the answer key for question no 15 is incorrect while the question setters failed to provide practical options for question no 39 and 81 (41) .
He further pointed out that though question numbers 121 and 122 were different the options were similar.
As the University of Wyoming gave incorrect answer key for question no.6, the MPSC unwittingly committed the same mistake, he added.
He asserted that it has become crystal clear that the question setters had taken the short route during the preparation of the questions and the moderators had shirked their duty to verify the correctness of the answers.
He demanded a probe into the incident by setting up an inquiry committee.
