Imphal, September 16 2013:
The law and order and the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the State under the rule of Congress Government has completely failed, BJP has asserted.
Speaking to media persons at its Nityaipat Chuthek office here today, Vice President of BJP Manipur Pradesh Th Nandakishore decried that the State Government has not been able to identify the miscreants involved in the bomb blast at Khuyathong which killed 9 construction workers and left many others injured.
The bomb blast which took place right in the heart of Imphal where security arrangements are so tight indicates that the Home Department is there for namesake only.
The Department has failed to maintain law and order in the State thereby creating a sense of insecurity among the general public.
So, the Home Minister should resign on moral ground, Nandakishore demanded.
He stated that the Food Security Bill which promises to provide rice at the rate of Rs 3/kg to 18 lakh population in the State will never be a reality.
He pointed out that there is no road in the State to transport such a huge load of rice and at the same time there are also no godowns to hold huge quantity of rice.
Moreover, the concerned Department has also not made the necessary arrangements for selection of the beneficiaries.
Nandakishore noted that Super Fine rice is being sold in the market at the rate of Rs 25/kg.The fair price shops where the public are supposed to get rice, edible oil and dals, etc at Government rate are nowhere to be seen in Manipur.
And as such the people have been deprived of these facilities.
This clearly shows that the PDS in the State too has failed completely, he contended.
He went on to alleged that the State Government is also remaining silent over the problems being faced by the people due to worsening condition of all the National Highways through which the required essential commodities of the people are transported from outside.
The Congress led Government in the State has all the while remained deep rooted in corruption, he charged.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the BJP is set to be held on September 18 at Guwahati where the party's National President Rajnath is expected to attend and decide who should be fielded for the Lok Sabha election due next year.
