Locals thrash a man for 'indecent exposure'

Kakching, June 15 2011:
A 35-year old man was severely beaten by locals of Wabagai Kadajit for allegedly pulling down his trousers in a public place to show his private parts.
He was handed over to the police today.
The beaten up man was Ningthoujam Ranglen son of Manimohon of Tangjeng Khunjao and he committed the indecent act while coming to collect the dowry of a sister of his locality from the house of her divorced husband.
Local reports said that Mayengbam Kangleikhoma son of Shyamkumar of Wabagai Katajit Leikai had divorced Ningthoujam Bala Devi (26) recently after about three years of marriage.
They have a one and half year old daughter.
The divorce agreement was settled on Monday, June 13 and the parental family of Bala with other relatives came in a Shaktiman truck to collect the dowry given to Bala at the time of her marriage.
After completing the loading of goods belonging to Bala the vehicle started moving from the house.
At this juncture Ranglen pull down his trousers shouting abusive words.
Irate over his indecent act, people who witnessed the incident chased after the vehicle and forced it back to Wabagai Kadajit again.
They dragged Ranglen and assaulted him.
On hearing the news a team of Kakching police led by SDPO, AG Sharma rushed to the spot and made efforts to control the crowd.
Police attempted to take away Ranglen from the scene, however, they were blocked by a large number of womenfolk of the locality.
The womenfolk demanded an apology from the man and punishment for his misdeed.
After a long negotiation with the intervention of the local Pradhan and Members of the Gram Panchayat an agreement was reached and police took away Ranglen, the report added.
