Sit-in-protest staged against FA and Article 371 (A)

Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organisation (JNGVO) Kakching, All Kakching Students Union (AKSU), United Peoples Administrative Council (UPACO), AMSU, CADA, Thoubal Ima and EECHAL jointly organized a sit-in-protest at Ibudhou Naohallai Laibung, Kakching Market terming the Framework Agreement signed between the NSCN-IM and Government of India on August 3, 2015 as contentious subject.
The sit-in-protest was also to air their firm stand that extension of Article 371 (A) in Manipur and other similar act cannot be passed in the parliament.
During the protest demonstration, placards which read as "Article 371(A) and other similar Act cannot be passed in the parliament" "Special status cannot be granted to one group of community" "Territorial Integrity of Manipur should remain intact", "Divisive policy of India Government cannot divide Manipur".
Many resource persons while speaking at the occasion expressed that in a democratic country like India led by PM Narendra Modi who bat for corruption free India, inclusive growth and overt governance, it is questionable that the content of the Framework Agreement has been kept concealed from the public.
They also pointed out the content of the Framework Agreement that Article 371(A) can be extended to Naga inhabited area in Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam is cleared from the report tabled by interlocutor RN Ravi in front of Ministry of Home Affairs committee.
As such United Committee Manipur (UCM) and other important organizations organised the sit-in-protest against the extension of Article 371(A) in Manipur which has posed serious threat to the peaceful coexistence of valley and hill people.
He also cautioned the central government that violent agitation will be launched if Article 371(A) is extended to Manipur.
