Imphal, August 12 2018:
The Coalition of Indigenes Rights Campaign (CIRCA) Manipur has appealed to all the people of the State to observe Patriots Day on August 13 as well as August 14, the day British colonial rulers left Manipur.
Speaking to media pe sons at Kwakeithel Girls High School this afternoon, CIRCA Youth Front co-convenor Nameirakpam Idison said that the Patriots Day should be observed in schools, colleges and universities rather than declaring holiday so as to study the historical event and its significance together with students.
CIRCA has been observing August 14, the day British colonial rulers left Manipur as Manipur Independence Day since 2016 .
Schools, colleges and universities need to observe August 14 too by unfurling the Manipuri National flag of the past.
The main function of the Manipur Independence Day would be held at the royal palace where titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba would unfurl the Manipuri National flag.
Moreover, a book titled 'Why pre-merger political status for Manipur?' published by CIRCA's Research and Media Cell would be published on the occasion, Idison said.
Saying that due arrangements have been made to observe the historic event at Moreh, Jiribam and different places of Assam, he appealed to all the people to observe the event at their different localities.
