Passengers robbed along NH-2

Four night super bus plying along NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur Road) were looted by unidentified armed miscreants at a spot located in between Daili village and Yaikongpao, around one and half kilometres to the south of Kangpokpi Police Station in the wee hours today.
According to report, the unidentified armed miscreants who spoke Kuki dialect looted around Rs.20,000 as well as some costly mobile handsets from the passengers of the bus bearing Regd.No.MN01-1515 .
According to Kangpokpi Police, the vehicle bearing Regd.No.MN05-C-0748, MN01-1515, MN01-1447 passed the Police gate at around 3:28 am while another vehicle bearing Regd.No.MN01-1167 passed the gate at around 4:25 am respectively.
Interestingly, the incident was not reported at Kangpokpi Police Station, which is the nearest Police Station from the place of occurrence, but tothe Sekmai Police Station, which is about 1 hours drive from the place of occurrence.
The place of occurrence falls under the jurisdiction of Kangpokpi Police Station.
The matter was reported to Kangpokpi Police Station Officer-in-Charge at around 7 am only, said Police sources, adding that as case has been registered under FIR No.25(11)2013 Kpi PS U/S 400/384/34 under IPC & 25(1-C) Arms Act just after the information was received.
A search operation was conducted in and around Kangpokpi, Daili and Yaikongpao by Senapati Police led by its SP.
However, there is no report of any arrest.
In the meantime, a Senior police officer of Senapati said that it is very unfortunate on the part of the vehicle operator and the passengers not to report the incident in time to the concerned police station.
