NCA dissatisfied

Naga Chief Association, Chandel has ex-
pressed dissatisfaction with the clarifications
made by Ng Joychandra Monsang on the de-
duction and price hike of rice meant for 41 AC/
ST under NFSA.

agent and assistant to the contractor and
transporter Ibomcha Singh had clarified in a
meeting convened by the NCA that shortage
of rice meant for the AC for distribution
under NFSA is due to the 30% tax levied on
the transporters by underground groups.
The agents have to bear all expenses for
transportation from main godown to all Fair
Price Shops as no transportation or labour
charges are sanctioned under the scheme, he
stated.
When the rice for distribution reach
Chandel and Chakpikarong they cost around
4.5 per kg which are then distributed to the
beneficiaries at Rs 5 per kg.
A team of NCA members went to the
DC, Chandel seeking clarifications on why
the sanctioned amount of rice under NFSA
have not reached the district to which the
DC said he had no knowledge of the deduc-
tion nor the price hike, a statement informed.
The association, in a statement, said it
will launch democratic protests in case
NFSA is not implemented as per the Central
Government rules.
