Imphal, May 31 2016:
Volunteers of Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) and
AMSU along with students of Progressive English School,
Lamding and womenfolk today staged sit-in-protests at
Wangjing-Lamding Keithel and Thoubal bazar demanding re-
lease of the five members of Kangleipak Students' Association
(KSA) arrested by police, our correspondent reports.
Five volunteers of KSA including its general secretary
were arrested by a team of city police on Friday in connec-
tion with the pulling up of two non-locals allegedly involved
in the adulteration of common salt.
The protesters while demanding immediate release of the
students have questioned why city police detained the 5
students while setting free the two shop owners who were
poisoning the people by selling adulterated food items.
KSA general secretary Sukham Bidyananda, deputy sec-
retary Khullakpam Sanjoy, members Langoljam Rajesh,
Yumnam Luwang and Nongmaithem Biren are currently
held in judicial custody.
