Imphal, May 31 2016:
Although the current financial year is just two months old, some LPG distributors have already delivered 9 to 11 refills to some consumers.
Imphal LPG has delivered 11 refills to one consumer, nine refills each to five consumers, eight refills each to 19 consumers, seven refills each to 37 consumers, six refills each to 79 consumers and five refills each to 216 consumers.
It remains a big question whether these cylinders actually reached the kitchens of the particular consumers within this period of just two months.
At the time of LPG connection, not more than two cylinders are provided and there is not a single household in Manipur which consumes five subsidised LPG refills in a month.
Again it is questionable where those nine refills, eight refills and seven refills issued within a span of just two months were used.
Even though these facts are reflected quite glaringly in the IOC's official records, the authorities concerned seem to have paid no attention to the matter so far.
Interestingly both the IOC and LPG distributors have been blaming bandhs and blockades for their inability to distribute LPG to the quantum required by consumers in the State.
But the quantum of LPG distributed by Imphal LPG within the current financial year tells an altogether different story.
Qutub Gas Service, New Delhi has around 17848 consumers.
Out of them, 24 have been issued four refills each and 709 three refills each.
According to records, Imphal LPG has issued refills to all consumers who made their bookings on or before May 30 whereas Qutub Gas Service has issued refills to all consumers who made their bookings on or before May 26 .
