One person detained for trafficking contraband drugs in Jiribam

Jiribam, December 30 2018:
Special Task Force (STF) team led by ASI, A Krishna Sharma along with a team of Jiribam police conducted frisking and checking at auto parking near Supermarket, Babupara Jiribam and its adjoining areas in Jiribam Bazar in connection with the upcoming Bye Bye day on December 31 and New Year today at around 11.30 am and detained a person for verification, who was coming from Irabot crossing towards Jiribam Bazar, after he tried to flee at the sight of police team in a suspicious manner.
On further questioning, the arrested man has been identified as Hodam Romen alias Naobi Singh (30) s/o (L) H Robi Singh of Sorok Atingbi Kamranga, Jiribam.
On further checking of his personal belongings, about 65 gms of suspected white colour No 4 heroin was found inside a mobile handset box, packed in a pink colour polythene bag.
On being asked from where the drug came from, he said that he reached Jiribam after the said white colour powder was collected from a woman at CCpur bus parking.
Further questioning revealed that the arrested person was a habitual drug trafficker who frequently transported contraband drugs to Assam.
Police said that he was recently bailed out from the Silchar Jail for committing similar crime.
A case has been registered in Jiribam PS for further investigation.
