Imphal, September 29, 2009:
All Tribal Disabled Union, Manipur (ATDUM) has warned of imposing indefinite economic blockade on National Highways 39 and 53 from October 4 if the government doesn't ensure 3% reservation for disables in the recruitment of teachers in district councils.
Addressing media persons today at its office located at Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai, ATDUM president Momo Tantanga said the state cabinet has, on September 24, approved for 3% reservation of disables candidates in any recruitment conducted by the government.
However, the CEOs of District Councils mentioned in the notification for the recruitment of primary teachers in Autonomous District Councils that no specific reservation will be made for the disables.
Momo Tantanga also alleged that the three Special Employment Exchanges have also not been informed of the recruitment of primary teachers for district councils.
The ATDUM president alleged that the notification for the recruitment of district council teachers is beyond the norms of recruitment process.
He also demanded that the recruitment of teachers in the district council should be free, fair and open.
The president further warned that the union will impose indefinite economic blockade on NHs 39 and 53 beginning from October 4 if the government fails to ensure 3% reservation for the disabled candidates in the recruitment for primary teachers under district councils.
