Imphal, May 27 2023:
With Union Home Minister Amit Shah scheduled to land here on May 29, CPI Manipur State Council has prepared a nine-point charter of demands.
Speaking to media persons at Irabot Bhavan here today, CPI Manipur State Council former Secretary L Sotinkumar said that they would submit a nine-point charter of demands and ask the Union Home Minister to translate them into action.
The Chief Minister earlier announced that Central paramilitary forces and State forces would be deployed at 38 vulnerable areas to protect life and properties, he noted and urged the Government to implement the Chief Minister's announcement effectively.
Deployment of Highway Protection Force along key National Highways of Manipur is a long-standing demand of CPI but the Government has been paying no attention.
"If we are given an opportunity to meet Amit Shah during his scheduled visit to the State, CPI would make a strong point on the growing need for deployment of Highway Protection Force along key National Highways of the State", Sotinkumar said.
He then questioned the deployment pattern of the large number of Central security forces flown in from outside the State in the wake of the ethnic violence.
He urged the Government to ensure unhindered transportation of goods and commodities along national highways.
CPI Manipur State Council Assistant Secretary M Joykumar said that the ethnic crisis is a result of the BJP Government's failure.
He said that Amit Shah should talk with the CSOs of both the hills and the valley one after another.
Abrogation of SoO with Kuki militants, grant of economic package for the victims of the ethnic violence, rehabilitation of all the people currently taking shelter at relief camps and construction of new houses for all the people whose house have been burnt are some of the points listed in the charter of demands, Joykumar said.
