UPSC's Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam 2023 which would be held across the country on May 28 would also be held in the State at 12 sub-centres under 44 Imphal Centre.
Speaking to media persons at the MPSC Examination Hall yesterday afternoon, MPSC Secretary Arambam Neeta said that the UPSC allotted only one centre to the State in the name of 44 Imphal Centre for the Civil Services (Prelim) Exam 2023 .
Nonetheless there would be 12 sub-centres under the 44 Imphal Centre namely; DM College of Arts, DM College of Science, TG Higher Secondary School, GP Women's College, DM College of Commerce, Manipur College, Oriental College, Examination Hall of MPSC(A), Examination Hall of MPSC(B), Ananda Higher Secondary Academy, CC Higher Secondary School and Maharaja Bodhchandra College, Arambam Neeta said.
The total number of candidates registered at the 12 sub-centres is 4051 .
Nonetheless, the UPSC, in view of the ethnic violence which erupted in the State since May 3, has given candidates registered under 44 Imphal Centre the option to choose exam centres at Aizawl, Kohima, Shillong, Dispur, Jorhat, Kolkata and Delhi.
Subsequently, 700 candidates, out of the 4051 candidates registered under 44 Imphal Centre, have chosen exam centres outside the State.
As such, the remaining 3351 candidates would appear for the UPSC Exam at the 12 sub-centres of Imphal.
Saying that there may or may not be curfew on the exam day (Sunday), the MPSC Secretary appealed to all the candidates to carry admit cards as well as identity cards when they come for the exam.
These documents may serve as curfew pass, she said.
Informing that the MPSC has already sought the Government's advice, Arambam Neeta appealed to all the candidates to reach their exam centres on time.
Duration of the first paper is from 9.30 am to 11.30 am while examination for the second paper would be held from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm.
As per the UPSC's instructions, gates of examination centres would be closed 10 minutes before commencement of the exam, she said.
Imphal West DC Th Kirankumar said that district administrations concerned called up all the registered candidates and asked whether they would like to change their exam centres.
The district administrations also made arrangements so that candidates who could not obtain their admit cards before the unrest get the same.
As for the candidates who could not download their admit cards, they would be given their admit cards at their respective examination centres on the examination day.
There are 21 such candidates in Imphal West, Kirankumar said.
NEET and CUET would be held in June.
Candidates who would be appearing in these exams may choose their exam centres through SMS, phone calls or emails from 7 am of May 28 till the evening of May 30 .
They may download their admit cards after choosing their exam centres.
If they have difficulties in downloading admit cards because of the internet shut down, the candidates may come to the DC offices and download their admit cards, the Imphal West DC said.
