Imphal, May 27 2023:
Asserting that Union Home Minister Amit Shah portraying a particular Court ruling as the cause of the ethnic violence in Manipur is factually incorrect, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Manipur has urged the State Government to present the true genesis of the violence to the Union Home Minister during his visit to the State.
Speaking to media persons at its office at Moirangkhom today, State coordinator of AAP Bishwanath Thingnam said that the Union Home Minister dubbing the ethnic conflict in Manipur as a consequence of the Court judgment pertaining to the ST status demand for Meeteis is unfortunate.
If the unrest is triggered by the ruling of the Court then why is the conflict only with the Kukis and how the Tribal Solidarity March of May 3 in Naga dominated areas ended peacefully, he asked.

Appealing to the Central leader to study the ground reality first especially when the people are emotional before making any statement, Bishwanath said that stating factually incorrect statements is not appreciable at this critical juncture.
Saying that AAP Mani-pur will always stand to protect the integrity of Manipur, he added that National leaders of AAP will raise the issue of violence in Manipur in the upcoming Parliament session.
He further said that the ethnic clash besieging the State seems more like a handiwork of Kuki militants to wipe out Meetei from the soil of Manipur.
Armed Kuki militants setting 30 houses on fire at Phougakchao at a time when the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs was in the State is truly unfortunate, he said and appealed to the Government to take up stringent actions against all perpetrators at the earliest.
Bishwanath Thingnam also appealed to the 10 Chin-Kuki MLAs to reconsider their demand and promote peaceful coexistence 'as their demand sounds more like points raised by non-natives' .
How is the BJP Government going to run the State when they cannot even control their MLAs, he asked and appealed to all the legislators of the ruling party to step down on moral ground if they cannot perform their duty.
