Speaking to media persons, he maintained that the party has been observing the turmoil situation in the State since May 3 and examining whether the measures being adopted to contain the situation are going in the right direction.

He also referred to how a possible communal violence was averted smoothly within a month he assumed the office of DGP in 2006 when a Meitei labourer was killed in Moreh by KNA.
A meticulously planned mechanism was placed to successfully contain the protest erupting out of it, he said while adding that the present situation also needs a carefully planned mechanism to systematically dismiss the situation and restore peace.
Considering the tense situation, a National executive meeting of the party was convened on May 22 in New Delhi and adopted various resolutions including submission of a representation to the Union Home Minister and even call on him if possible, he said.
However, considering the busy schedule of the Union Home Minister, the party has only submitted a representation signed by NPP National vice president Konrad Sangma, himself and NPP Manipur Unit president N Kayisii, he said while adding that Konrad Sangma will also be visiting Imphal to meet Union Home Minister during his proposed three days visit to Manipur from May 29 .
The former Uripok Kendra MLA also detailed the contents of the submitted representation to media persons present during the conference today.
The representation contained a detailed report of loss of valuable lives and properties during the violent incidents, the crisis containment measures in place and possible amendments to bring better results, he said.
Other mechanisms including installation of a neutral administration, formation of relief and rehabilitation committee, peace committee and provision for abundant essential commodities were also suggested, he said.
The party also took strong note of the blatant violation of SoO ground rules by Kuki militants and urged immediate and stringent action against them to expedite the restoration of peace and normalcy in the State, he said.
The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah will be meeting with various party leaders and stakeholders during his visit, he said while adding that the party leaders of NPP including National president K Sangma are also prepared to meet the Union Home Minister.
