Imphal, April 24 2011:
The Manipur People Party (MPP) today charged the Congress of having dragged the state into a pool of woes.
Instead of working for the welfare of the people, ministers, MLAs and leaders of the Congress are working only for self interests or in favour of their relatives, alleged MPP vice president, Y Mangi, speaking at a meeting held at Khabam Phijam Leirak.
The meeting was attended by many leaders of the party and discussed it on the ways of strengthening MPP's presence in Heingang Kendra.
It was organized by the Heingang Kendra MPP in connection with the 2012 Assembly election.
Mangi said that as ministers and MLAs of the Congress are deeply engaged in amassing wealth of their own and of their relatives, no welfare work has been taken up for the upliftment of the living standards of the poor people ever since the party came to power.
He also blamed the Congress led SPF government for the present disruptive law and order situation of the state and said it was the result of running a government led by unworthy leaders.
PDS items are not reaching the people as Congress ministers and MLAs have diverted them to be sold in the black.
The MPP had unearthed such diversions of PDS items on various occasions and will continue to do so.
Terming the Congress leaders as looters, he urged the people to teach the party a lesson in the next assembly election.
It is in the hands of the people to bring a change in the state.
He cautioned the people that if the Congress is again allowed to govern the state, the state will continue to go backwards.
