Imphal, April 22 2013:
Claiming responsibility for the ambush laid on a combined team that included personnel of 8th Manipur Rifles and some engineers of Public Works Department at a spot in between Kwatha Lamkhai and Khudengthabi as well as for the bomb blast at Sekmai Bazar targeting CRPF personnel yesterday, the proscribed outfit, Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has informed that the two attacks were carried out by a special team of PLA, its armed wing.
In a statement signed by Bangkim, its Chief of Department of Publicity, RPF maintained that it had given numerous warnings in the past against going around or mixing with Indian security forces and other armed military personnel to avoid casualties.
The assumption of PWD that its engineers would be safer under the protective shield of Indian security forces has only been proved wrong by the Khudengthabi ambush.
Expressing regret over the injury or death caused to some of the native people and sharing in the grief of the bereaved families, Bangkim, however, clarified that the ambush had not been laid deliberately on the Manipur Rifles and the stand of RPF and its armed wing, PLA against targeting personnel belonging to State forces still remains.
