Imphal, April 22 2013:
The Kuki Chiefs' Association, Chandel district and the Kuki People's Forum (KPF) have raised strong objection against the assertion of the All Tribal Students' Union (ATSUM) that Molnoi village of Pallel is a part of Thoubal district, not Chandel district.
Speaking to media persons at Molnoi village today, chief of the village Chongthang Zou said that Molnoi village has been in existence since around 1960 when Manipur was categorised as a Territorial Council.
From that period, Molnoi remains a part of Chandel district and there was no truth in ATSUM's assertion.
Kuki Chiefs' Association, Chandel district spokesman H Touthang while acknowledging the Government's initiative to build an FCI godown at Pallel, Molnoi, urged the Government to start construction work of the godown.
KPF president J Baite too claimed that ATSUM's demand not to construct FCI godown at Molnoi for it is located within Thoubal district was misleading and erroneous.
Maintaining that Molnoi is a part of Chandel district, Baite asserted that the village is the most suitable site for construction of FCI godown.
Whether it is Chakpikarong or Machi sub-division or Moreh, it would be most suitable to distribute FCI goods from Molnoi in view of its location beside National Highway.
The State Government has already decided that Molnoi is the most suitable site for the FCI godown, he added.
