No newspapers available Saturday owing to the suspension of the publications by the media houses decrying the threat imposed on them by the banned People Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) on them.
The decision to suspend the publication was taken an emergency meeting of the AMWJU with the editors of the newspapers held yesterday following to the threats from the PREPAK after the newspapers did not carry the lists of 143 persons who they warned of hitting if the chief minister failed to check the killing of people by the police commandos and security forces.
AMWJU convened another round of general body meeting today in which it not only condemned the attitude of the police who asked not to publish the PREPAK statement as well as PREPAK's pressure to ensure publication of the list of the people they provided.
The general body meeting also resolved to chalk out on how to handle exercise the rights of the editors in a conflict situation from time to time.
It also decided to held a workshop during the Yaosang holiday and draft an editorial guideline.
The meeting with an appealed to the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) not to impose threats to the media persons further resolved to resume the publication of newspaper with immediate effect and broadcasting of ISTV network which were suspended since yesterday on receive of the threats from the outfit.
