Congress will back to power after general election: Gaikhangam

The domination of Congress in the Imphal Municipal Election (IM) clearly shows that Congress will also swept absolute majority in the upcoming general election which is to be held in 2012, said MPCC president Gaikhangam today.
IMC won 14 seats out of 27 seats in the election which was held on May 25.Gaikhangam said that Congress has done it once again by winning absolute majority like the previous election.
This is nothing but the symbol of wide acceptance of the party by the people of the state.
Congress not only in the IMC election but will also win absolute majority in the upcoming general election to the Manipur Legislative Assembly which will be held in 2012, he asserted.
Talking to reporters, Gaikhangam said that the government suspended the previous Council only to solve the various problems rooted inside the IMC since long.
He expressed gratitude to the people of the municipal areas for supporting Congress in the election.
He further said that the party received request to issue congress ticket from many persons to contest the election.
Since they could not issue two tickets in a ward, the party is forced to support independent candidate which make the congress candidates fight with each other in some wards.
Opposition parties did not produced many candidates in the election which clearly shows that opposition in the state is in a non existence state.
