Cabinet decides to devolve more powers to ADC

A cabinet meeting held under the chair of the chief minister today has decided to devolve more powers to the Autonomous District Councils, a senior cabinet minister said.
He said that after a thorough discussion, the cabinet approved to the devolution of 50% power of each departments which government had already decided to share powers with the ADC.
Mention may be made that state government has devolved powers of as many as 25 departments to the Autonomous (Hills) District Councils (ADCs).
The departments which certain sections of their functions are to be transferred include agriculture, art and culture, adult education, co-operation, education (s), finance, fishery,
forest, health and family welfare, horticulture, industries, science and technology, transport, tribal development, veterinary, water supply, youth affairs and sports,
etc.
