Imphal, December 29 2012:
The United Naga Council's (UNC) statement charging CM, O Ibobi as communal and even comparing him with Narendra Modi was very unfortunate, Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro has exclaimed.
Addressing media persons at his office chamber at Secretariat here today, Minister M Okendro, who is also the Spokesperson of the Chief Minister O Ibobi led Congress Government, categorically stated that charging the Chief Minister of Manipur as communal by an apex Naga body is indeed unfortunate considering the fact that O Ibobi is one such Chief Ministers of Manipur who has taken up a number of development programmes exclusively for the hill districts of the State.
While elaborating on the various developmental programmes taken up under the initiative of CM O Ibobi, Minister M Okendro mentioned construction of Mini Secretariats in all the hill districts of the State and setting up a number of Public Health Centres for the well being of the people in the hills apart from setting up a number of schools.
The Minister also mentioned improvement of TD Blocks and the constructions of roads under PMGSY giving more emphasis for development in the hill areas.
Around 3000 teachers have been recruited under the District Councils lone, the Minister added.
Chief Minister O Ibobi is also one among those who frequently visit the hills to personally take stock of the developmental programmes being taken up.
As such, terming such Chief Minister O Ibobi who does not have any inclination towards any community, but thinks for the welfare of the whole State, as communal is really surprising, the Minister exclaimed.
