Further hearing on bail plea fixed on May 8

The Special Judge ofg ND&PS Manipur has fixed May 8 for further hearing of the bail application on health ground filed by former Chandel ADC Chairmen Lhukhosei Zou.
Lhukhosei was arrested in connection with the seizure of a huge consignment of drugs on July 19, 2018 .
The bail application was filed nearly two month after Lhukhosei Zou had surrender before the Court after remain traceless for more than one year and after being released on interim bail on medical ground on December 19, 2018 .
The hearing of the bail application 2 was heard by Special Judge ND&PS Manipur today through video conferencing.
During the hearing the Court heard the Special PP who submitted that the State Government is ready to bear the expenditure for the treatment of the accused and prayed not to allow the bail for treatment of a personal ailment.
The Special PP further submitted that when the accused was released on interim bail earlier on December 19, 2018 with the direction to appear before the Court on January 2 last year the accused failed to appear and remained traceless for more than one year.
The accused suddenly appeared and surrendered before the Court on February 28 along with a prayer to defend himself and seven others.
It may be mentioned that on that day counsel of the accused submitted that on January 5 last year, Lhukhosei Zou was abducted by KNA Eastern Zalengngam (Burma) and detained in Myanmar and interrogated in connection with the case.
As such, he could not appear before the Court after which the Court declared him a proclaimed absconder, the counsel explained, further claiming that Lhukhosei Zou had no intention to abscond from the proceedings of the case and is willing to join the trial.
