Ibobi appeals for public support in providing 24-hr power supply

ALONG WITH launching of an Online Energy Billing Portal, Chief Minister O Ibobi today inaugurated five 132/33 KV Sub-Stations in different parts of Imphal.
Ibobi started off his inaugural spree with unveiling of a 132/33 KV Power-Sub Station at Kangla this morning at around 9:30.Later, he inaugurated four other 132/33 KV Power Sub-Stations respectively at Sangaiprou, Kakwa, Sangaipat and finally at Kongba where the main function was also held along with launching of the Online Energy Billing
Portal for IED-I .
Speaking on the occasion, Ibobi said that his government is aware of the fact that the people are not at all satisfied over the power situation in the state.
Load shedding system is also not being implemented properly with some areas receiving power after two days' break.
So, the State Government is giving priority to improvement of power supply with establishment of Power Sub-Stations in every part of the state.
He further stated that with imposition of Election Code of Conduct, many of the newly established Power Sub-Stations could not be commissioned even after months of completion.

Today, electricity has become an important part and parcel of our life and it is in consideration of this that five Power Sub-Stations have been inaugurated today at one go.
Moreover, a 400 KV power line is under the process of being transferred from Silchar to Imphal, he added.
The Chief Minister went on to say that since generation of power from Tipaimukh Multipurpose Project would take some time, the State Government is planning to rope in the service of some private firms for generation of power to meet the present requirement or to take up joint ventures in this regard.
Maintaining that the problem of insufficient power supply is being faced not only in Manipur, but it is seen everywhere, the Chief Minister appealed to the people to use power in the most economical manner and asked them to pay their bills in time regularly to ensure uninterrupted power supply round the clock.
Delivering the Presidential speech, Phungzathang Tonsing, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, observed that with inauguration of the five Power Sub-Stations in different parts of Imphal today, the problem of insufficient power faced by the people may be reduced to some extent.
The function was also attended by Md Amin Shah, MLA of Kshetrigao A/C; Kh.
Devendra Singh, MLA of Sekmai A/C; Vungzagin Valte, MLA of Thanlon A/C and E Chand, MLA of Yaiskul A/C as Guests of Honour.
Rajesh Agarwal, Commissioner (Power); Nandeibam Sarat, Chief Engineer of Power and other top officials of Power Department were also among other officials present on the occasion.
It may be noted here that the 33/11 KV sub-station which was inaugurated at Kangla today has an installed capacity of 2x5 MVA.
The sub-station has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.5.88 crores.
It will cover the archaeological park and nearby bazaar areas namely, Thangal Bazaar, AOC, New Lambulane, Dewlahlane, parts of Thangmeiband, New Checkon and Hatta Golapati.
The total installation cost of both the 33/11 Kv sub-stations at Sangaipat and Sangaiporou was said to be Rs.13.90 crores and they would cover Paite Veng, Sangaiprou areas, Thounaojam Leikai, Heinoukhongnembi, Kwakeithel areas, Khangempali, Lukram Leirak, Sayang Kuraomakhong, etc.
The 2X5 33/11 Kv sub-station at Kakwa has been constructed at a total cost of Rs.6.46 crores and it would supply power to Kyamgei, Kakwa, Singjamei, Yaiskul, Yumnam Leikai, Loklaobung, Waikhom Leikai, Mayeng Leikai, Thongam Leikai and the surrounding areas.
Build at a cost of Rs 21.16 crroes, the 2X20 MVA 132/33 Kv sub-station at Kongba will cover Wangkhei, Kongpal, Irilbung, Kshetrigao, Yairipok, Khongman, Ucheckon Khunou, Singjamei, Kakwa, Mongsangei, Canchipur, Nambul Mapal, Heirangoikhong, etc.
The website of the Online Energy Billing Portal for IED-I which was launched is www.energybil.man.nic.in and through this public can pay their bills and also check whether bills paid have reached the department or not.
