Separate DIR for language a reality now

With a view to accelerate the growth and development of Manipuri language and other dialects spoken in Manipur, the State Government has set up a separate full-fledged Language Directorate, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has announced.
The announcement was made while speaking to media persons after attending the 69th Birth Anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India, at Congress Bhawan here today.
Chief Minister O Ibobi recalled that Manipuri Language was included in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution on this day in 1992 and the establishment of a separate Manipuri Language Directorate was done after the matter was discussed in the State Cabinet.
Since a separate Language Directorate has been established, all the languages and dialects of different communities recognized by the State Government will be able to develop to the fullest.
The State Government will also come up with all possible help to develop each and every language and dialect spoken in the State, the Chief Minister assured.
Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro, who accompanied the Chief Minister on his way out after the function, also said that the dream of the people to develop Manipuri language can now be made possible with the establishment of the Manipuri Language Directorate.
Education minister M Okendro also informed that Kh Raghumani, IAS has been chosen as the Director of the new Language Directorate.
