Congress position improving: Gaikhangam

When Congress's position improves in election results for four states and one union territory declared today, the morale of the Congress in Manipur has been boost up.
The improvement of party position the four states and one union territory, particularly the returned of Congress rule in Assam, will certainly help the party in returning power for the third time after the 2012 general election to the Manipur Legislative Assembly, said Gaikhangam.
Speaking to reporters at Congress Bhavan this evening, the president claimed that the shadow of the today's election results will be reflected in the state Assembly election too.
The position of Congress is improving further by the days, he asserted.
While giving the reasons behind the improving party's position, Gaikhangam said that the party goes with the government.
This is the secret of success, he added.
The holding of meetings for the Congress workers frequently on the advice of the AICC and the ongoing series of awareness programme on flagship programme under a policy of the party will help Congress winning the elections in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state, he observed.
H, however, maintained that the defeat of Congress candidate and former Nagaland Chief Minister S C Jamir in the Aonglenden Assembly by-poll in the hands of ruling Naga People's Front (NPF) candidate Toshikopba Longkumer by over 1,300 votes was due to existing political system in Nagaland.
People of Manipur are well understood about the political system in Nagaland.
Hinting that that the by-poll was not conducted in a free and fair manner, he said that Jamir would have emerged victory if the by-poll was conducted smoothly.
In the May 25 IMC election in the state, Congress will emerge landslide victory and will form the council again, he hopes estimating that out of 27 seats Congress will win at least in 16 or 17 seats.
One seat had already in favour of the party, he added.
