Imphal, May 13 2011:
Thadou Students' Association (TSA) has expressed concern over allotting only six Thadou-Kuki MIL posts in the recruitment of teachers for Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA) .
TSA in a press release claimed that Thadou-Kuki is the second largest populous tribe producing largest number of candidates in the HSLC and HSSLC examinations amongst all tribes in the State.
It added, having population of 2.4 lakhs, 2437 and 1848 candidates of Thadou-Kuki tribe appeared in the HSLC and HSSLC examinations respectively this year.
On the contrary, it added, 1250 and 491 Tangkhul candidates appeared in the two same examinations respectively.
It went on further that the population of Tangkhul is only 1.6 lakhs as per 2011 Census.
TSA said that 17 posts are however given to Tangkhul while only six posts to Thadou-Kuki at the ratio of 28:1 for the former and 301:1 for the latter.
TSA further contended, 63 MIL teachers must be created for Thadou-Kuki if the same rate of Tangkhul MIL is applied.
TSA warned, in the light of the above mentioned facts, intense agitation would be initiated if the anomalies created in the advertisement are not rectified.
The students' body said that TSA is not against the allocation of more posts to other tribes but against the injustice done to Thadou-Kuki.
