Cabinet fixes talks with UNC on May 30

Manipur government has prepared a tentative programme to hold talks with the agitating United Naga Council on May 30.A decision regarding the matter was taken in a cabinet meeting held today under the chair of CM, O Ibobi Singh.
The talks will be held at Senapati district HQ and a ministerial team led by Tourism Minister TN Haokip and comprising of YAS Minister DD Thaisii and IFCD Minister N Biren will represent the state government in the talks, an official source said quoting the decision of the cabinet.
The cabinet further decided to urge the Centre to furnish the charter of demands which the UNC has made to the state government a week ahead of the proposed date of talks.
It is pertinent to mention that the UNC has been pressing the Centre for initiating the next round of tripartite talks with the Centre and the state government reiterating their demand for an 'alternative arrangement for the Nagas in the present state of Manipur' after they declared severing all political ties with the Manipur government.
Other agendas discussed and approved by the cabinet included 6% increase of TA and DA of government employees and filling up of 16 vacant posts in the ITI, Takyelpat.
The cabinet has approved hiking of the DA and TA of the employees from current rate of 45% to 51%, which was proposed by the finance department.
The revised rate would be effective from April 1, 2011 .
Government will incur and additional ' 6.4 crore a year in hiking the DA and TA, according to the source.
