Tipaimukh work discussed

A meeting chaired by Chief Secretary DS Poonia today has discussed issues related to starting construction work on the controversial Tipaimukh Multi-purpose Power Project and Loktak Downstream Project.
According to an official source, among other issues, the meeting held in the evening today discussed security aspects of Loktak Downstream Project, which would have a generating capacity of 66 megawatt power and construction of an approach road.
From the side of the NHPC, which is going to construct the project, proposal for permanent security at the project site had been placed.
With regard to the construction of the approach road connecting the project site and extending upto Tupul and Rengpang, the officials of the Works Department assured that the road would be ready by December this year.
As to the 1500 Mega-Tipaimukh Multi-purpose project, which is to be taken up as a joint venture, the meeting discussed signing of an agreement among all the stake holders at the earliest possible.
